This predicament may come down to the laws of inertia, and the difficulty of choosing to leave our comfort zone, meaning it is all up to each person to risk taking the steps needed to explore what is eluding us and that we won't know of otherwise if we stay in our comfortable, safe, and familiar ways. To be able to think outside the box, to evolve, takes courage and requires of one to meet their own shadow which is no easy thing.

Person and Planet, by Roszak is pointing to the innate correlation between each person's journey to what makes them whole as in Jung's path of individuation, and to see our place holistically on the planet, from the watersheds at our feet, to the ecoregions encompassing them, to the bioregions containing them to the continental plate carrying all like a Russian doll. Here, in North America this continent is called Turtle Island.

With the awareness of "ecopsychology" that comes with tuning into the composit self we each are, our antennae become acutely sensitive to minute changes in our environment in every instance. And with others living their destined life there is the hope we won't be swept off our feet by any unforeseen collective cataclysmic event, but like Noah we are preparing to take on the rising waters of excessive global consumerism, to save the future of now.

The Arts are critical in this by which to stem the tide of STEM and educate our sensitivities to our necessary human connection in the arms of the whole world around us.
